Top 3 Reasons You Should Be A Pole Slut

“Hello, my name is Peach, and I am a Pole Slut”

Pole Slut

[pohl sluht]

Noun.

  1. A pole dancer who doesn’t stick to a single pole school. Someone who chooses to train at multiple pole studios, or ‘studio hops’.

The benefits of being a pole slut

Ever since I started learning pole I have hopped between pole studios, often visiting other schools for classes or workshops when I get the opportunity. I first started pole tricks training at Candy & Chrome, but soon found Apsara Dance who also offer choreography.

The way I see it, why limit yourself to a single school, when there are so many benefits to training at multiple schools? If you live in a larger city you have even more choices of where you can go, so if you are in London or Glasgow then the number of choices you have is amazing.

So, here are the top 3 benefits to being a pole slut:

Different instructors, different expertise

I’m more of a floor work expert than an Iron-X gal

Every pole instructor has their own unique teaching style, strengths and interests. One instructor may be the sexy flow expert, whilst another may be the power moves pro. Taking classes at different schools exposes you to all these different types of instructors. You can discover new and interesting things from each of them, which will help you to grow and thrive as a student and pole dancer.

Want to work on your floor work? There’s a school for that!

Looking to improve your Iron-X? There’s an instructor who knows how.

Interested in putting together a routine? There is a coach who can help you.

Visiting a variety of schools allows you to get the most out of your training, allowing you to be a balanced pole dancer with a variety of skills.

Discovering your tribe

Often each pole school you visit has its own ‘Eco system’. A culture all of their own that is reflected in their class structures, teaching points, and choice of instructors. Some schools are more sporty, and some live on the sexier side. Of course, you always get a mix of students and teachers at every studio, but there will usually be a more dominant style that is favoured for whatever reason.

Studio hopping allows you to find which schools fit with what you love about pole. Finding a pole family, or ‘tribe’ that meshes with your pole style is one of the most rewarding aspects of pole dancing. The people you find can often become your greatest friends – your soul sisters!

Supporting the pole industry

Being loyal to one pole school is great, but as such a small industry it is essential that we support each other however we can. Being a ‘pole slut’ means that not only are you benefiting your own training, but you are helping the industry too!

Visiting other schools for classes and workshops gives you the opportunity to not only financially support them, but to offer support in other ways. Post a photo of you from your class, leave them a review on their Facebook, or film a move for your Instagram story.

What do you think?

Are you a pole slut too? What are your favourite things about training at a variety of studios? Or are you the loyalist who just sticks to one place?
